Peter von Wienhardt – the pianist
For me, music is more than playing the „right notes“ at the „right time“ in the „established manner“. My understanding of music, paired with my personal style to draw my ideas out of the instrument, are free from the necessity to meet listeners expectations. My piano playing unfolds independetly from conventions and this is the only way that my message, which I see and hear in the music, can be realized in sound. As in every field, it is also not easy in music to make a stand against the current convetions, or even simply not to fulfill them. It is not my goal to bring audiences away from these conventions, but rather to make my listeners aware that there is also hermeneutic interpretation in music. In this manner I limit myself and am able to find my own style – and as Alfred Schnittks says so well: „My style is a change in style.“
